LAND OF THE CHAGGA - The complete FULL Day Trip of Kilimanjaro Region

This comprehense day trip is meant for those who want to experience a variety of things in one day. We visit rice fields, a Monkey Forest, Materuni village and waterfalls and also a coffee farm!Itinerary:
On the south-east of Moshi lies the Monkey Forest, fed by the natural water source from the Kilimanjaro Mountains. To get there, you take a walk through rice fields surrounded by beautiful vegetation including coconut trees. You witness men and women at work in the fields and a natural spring that has fed the rice fields and the forest for generations. Besides the beautiful green, you will also see the mysterious "magic" tree, as the locals call it, and get to know the stories and myths associated with it. The "magic tree" is about 200 years old and 51 meters high. In the forest, you will see different species of monkeys, including colobus monkeys and blue monkeys, as well as different species of birds.
At a height of almost 150 m, Materuni Waterfall is the highest and most impressive waterfall in the region and is located on the slopes of Mt. Kilimanjaro, in the Moshi area. From the Materuni Village, we hike around 30 minutes through picturesque agricultural land and deep rain forest to the waterfall. The walk itself is interesting, as you will see some smaller waterfalls and lots of waterways which are part of the irrigation system of the local farmers, who grow coffee, bananas and many other fruits and vegetables. At the waterfall, you can even refresh in the cool and crystal clear water – don’t forget to bring your swimwear! 3.30 p.m. - 4.30 p.m.: Visit to Coffee FarmKilimanjaro is coffee country. We visit a small-scale coffee farmer on the slopes of the Kili, who will show you everything you need to know about coffee cultivation. You will be taken through all the steps, from planting the seedling to the making of the final cup of delicious hot coffee.Guided by a local farmer, you will witness the whole process of coffee production from bean to cup. The farmer will also explain to you about organic coffee farming and fair trade standards. The tour includes a locally prepared lunch and a homemade cup of coffee.4.30 p.m.: Return drive to Moshi; arrival at around 5:15 p.
